Last night, I watched Only You, a romantic comedy starring Oscar winners Marisa Tomei and Iron Man. It is a great movie, and I highly recommend it.

In English class, my son read and studied Much Ado About Nothing. When we finally watched the movie at home, he discussed every scene; it was a bit annoying, but there was a lot to explain. At some point, he asked if I knew that John Wick was Don John. I chuckled.

“Of course, I know,” I said, “and did you know that Dogberry is the original Batman?”

“What?” the three of them said in unison.

“Oh, and Matilda’s dad is the villain” I added.

“No way.” They said it louder than the previous exclamation.

“Also, Cat Woman is immortalized in Bruno Mars’ Uptown Funk,” I said showing off as a hip mom who knows what’s up.

“Ha?” We need to review that one.

It was fun to watch them process all of that information. Then we watched Batman Returns and it was awesome.

A couple of months ago, we watched A Man Called Otto; they couldn’t believe that’s Woody from Toy Story and Chuck Nolan from Cast Away. I told them about the meme where Wilson comments on Tom Hank’s post. It’s so funny. Check it out below.

Anoche ví la comedia romántica Solo Tú, los protagonistas —ganadores del Oscar— son Marisa Tomei y Tony Stark. Es una película fantástica, se las recomiendo.

En su clase de literatura mi hijo leyó y estudió Mucho Ruido y Pocas Nueces, la comedia de Shakespeare. Cuando vimos la película en casa, él les explicó a sus hermanas cada escena y qué bien porque todo estaba muy confuso. Después me preguntó si sabía que Don Juan era John Wick. Me reí.

“Por supuesto que sé,” le dije. “¿Pero ustedes saben que Dogberry, el alguacil, es el Batman original?”

“¿Qué?” Los tres contestaron al mismo tiempo.

“Por cierto, el papá en Matilda es El Pingüino, el villano” añadí.

“¿En serio?” Contestaron con una voz más llena de sorpresa que antes.

“También, Cat Woman es de quien habla Bruno Mars en su canción Uptown Funk” continué presumiendo mi conocimiento cultural.

“¿Cómo?” Necesitamos repasar esa.

Fue muy divertido verles en la cara las conexiones en su mente mientras procesaban toda esa información. Después vimos El Regreso de Batman y fue magnífico.

Hace unos meses vimos la película Un Vecino Gruñón y mis hijos no podían creer que el actor es la voz de Woody de Toy Story y que también fue el hombre de la película Náufrago. Luego les conté del meme donde Tom Hanks felicita a su esposa y Wilson hace un comentario. Nos reímos.
